Exploring Wellington’s Public Spaces
In this programme we explore the history of some of Wellington’s best known public spaces.
First up is Steps (1977), a narrative-less documentary showing the proliferation of steps in urban Wellington, including scenes of Allenby Terrace and Parliament.
In A Cat Among the Pigeons we see the creation of Te Aro Park on Manners Street, an iconic part of the city for many Wellingtonians, but how many know the history of the place and the background to the making of the park? This film looks at the park’s artist, Shona Rapira Davies and the project’s struggles.
Total duration: 70 minutes
